Perpetual Penance is a comprehensive double-CD collection gathering rare, previously hard-to-find and vinyl-exclusive recordings from Japanese death-doom veterans Coffins. Spanning material from various splits, EPs, flexi releases and live recordings, the compilation showcases the band's signature blend of primitive death metal, crushing doom riffs, filthy guitar tones and cavernous vocals. Tracks such as "Drowned in Revelation," "The Wretched Path," "Axes of Vengeance" and "In Bloody Sewage" deliver the band's trademark combination of slow, suffocating heaviness and bursts of savage, old-school aggression. The collection also features demo recordings, alternate versions and extended live performances, providing an extensive overview of Coffins' underground output beyond their regular full-length albums. With its raw production, oppressive atmosphere and 96 minutes of bone-crushing death-doom, this is an essential collection for fans of Autopsy, Asphyx, Winter and the darker traditions of extreme metal.
