ABOUT THIS RELEASE
Decaying in Obscurity sees Japanese death-doom veterans Anatomia further developing their putrid, oppressive sound, combining the primitive brutality of old-school death metal with expansive, suffocating doom passages. Built around cavernous guitar riffs, distorted bass, guttural vocals and deliberately sluggish drumming, the album creates an atmosphere of decay, misery and overwhelming darkness. Tracks such as "Cadaveric Dissection," "Sinking into the Unknown" and "Eternally Forgotten" showcase the band's ability to alternate between crushing slow-motion heaviness and bursts of violent aggression, while subtle keyboard passages introduce additional layers of eerie atmosphere. Compared to their debut, the songwriting incorporates greater variation in tempo, texture and melody without abandoning the raw, filthy aesthetic that defines their music. Bleak, sinister and relentlessly heavy, this is an excellent example of underground death-doom that balances primitive brutality with atmospheric depth.
